The main purpose of the college is to help Maldivian youth get access and opportunity for tertiary education and training in Maldives. The objectives of the college are manifold. They include the following:
- Provide further study opportunity for the growing student population.
- Provide access to world class education and training in the country.
- Provide quality and recognized education at an affordable price.
- Facilitate acquisition of university degrees in the country.
- Affiliate with reputed international universities.
- Facilitate the production of professionals such as accountants.
- Help the less privileged to acquire university qualifications.
- Empower employees with the right training programs.
Founded by the Villa Group on the 17th October 2007 (registered with Department of higher Education of the Ministry of Higher Education, Employment and Social Security), Villa College combines modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and learning and is proud to be the first private College in the Maldives. Today five faculties of VILLA COLLEGE are in operations. These include:
Faculties Located in Male’
- Faculty of Computing and Business Management (established in 2007)
- Faculty of Educational Studies (established in 2008)
- Faculty of Islamic Revealed Knowledge (established in 2009)
- Centre for Islamic banking and Finance
Faculties Located in Knowledge Village, Sun Island Resort and Spa (Nalaguraidhoo)
- Faculty of Hospitality Management and Tourism Studies (established in 2007)
- Faculty of Marine Studies and Water Sports (established in 2007)
As the College moves forward there will be a gradual expansion which will allow it to have the other faculties. The College is expected to have the following additional faculties within the next three years.

The College’s areas of studies encompasses: Information and computer technology, business and management, accounting and finance, marine studies, water sports, hospitality and
Tourism studies, education and marketing. Villa College is affiliated with reputed partners to provide world class education in the areas mentioned above. Our main partners are: Open University Malaysia, University College Birmingham, CIMA, ACCA, and CIM.
The student population is drawn from a variety of backgrounds, with students attracted from throughout Male’, the rest of the country and world-wide. The unique facility created in the Knowledge Village of Nalaguraidhoo which gives the respective students the opportunity of first hand experience on the industry is a major attraction to International students.
