INTRODUCTION TO VILLA COLLEGE

Villa College is a full-fledged tertiary education and training institute belonging to the Villa Group of Companies. Established as the Education and Training wing of the company by the Chairman of Villa Group, Honorable Qasim Ibrahim, Villa College's objective is to offer quality and internationally recognized tertiary education opportunities to as many Maldivians, at an affordable price, in the country. With this aim, Villa College began its historic journey on the 28th of January 2007 with the registration of its first Institute, Villa Institute of Water Sports followed by the Villa Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) and Villa Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Studies. By the countless efforts of the enthusiastic and committed staff, on the 17th October 2007 Villa College was registered and approved as the first Private College of the Maldives by the Department of Higher Education.

Villa College commenced its first program early October 2007 with a student number of twenty. Since then, Villa College's student numbers have grown and now we have an approximate total of over one twelve hundred students. Although Villa College started its operations in October 2007 under the Faculty of Computing and Business Management, all academic courses began in the month of July 2008.

Today, five faculties and a Professional Studies Centre  are in operation. They are:-

1. Faculty of Hospitality Management and Tourism Studies (located in the Knowledge Village of Sun Island Resort and Spa)

2. Faculty of Marine Studies and Water Sports (located in the Knowledge Village of Sun Island Resort and Spa)

3. Faculty of Computing and Business Management (located in Villa College QI Campus, Male')

 4. Faculty of Educational Studies (located in Villa College QI Campus, Male')

5. Faculty of Shariah and Islamic Studies (located in Villa College QI Campus, Male')

6. Centre for Professional Studies (located in Villa College QI Campus, Male')

As the College moves forward there will be a gradual expansion which will allow it to have the other faculties. The College is expected to have the following additional faculties within the next three years.

2. Faculty of Health Sciences
3. Faculty of Engineering
4. Flying School
