VC Research Digest

Introduction

Institute for Research and Innovation (IRI) is launching VC Research Digest, which would provide accessible snippets of completed student research projects, completed and ongoing research work of our staff members and highlights of most remarkable and relevant research publications in selected disciplines. The VC Research Digest is expected to provide fresh ideas for our researchers and students to expand their knowledge and practice in various disciplines, through exposure to most current research publications as well as simple guidance on carrying out high quality research.

Format of the VC Research Digest

The VC Research Digest will be published once a month as an e-Digest (pdf format) for easy circulation and access.

Each issue will include the following elements:

• 1 Editorial article

• At least 1 Staff research summary (to include more if available)

• At least 2 student research summary

• Highlights of most recent research in selected discipline areas (Research Mesh section)

• At least 1 short article on research methods

Submission of Papers and Articles

Invitations for submission of papers/ articles will be sent to all faculties and staff by IRI once every month. All submissions will be received through an online platform.

Submissions to the VC Research Digest should:

1. Be between 700-850 words in length

2. If a completed research project, it must at minimum include:

   • Research title

   • Research background and problem statement (including lit. review)

   • Aims and Objectives

   • Research question/hypothesis

   • Methodology

   • Findings

   • Conclusions

3. If an ongoing research project, it must at minimum include:

   • Research title

   • Research background and problem statement (including lit. review)

   • Aims and Objectives

   • Research question/hypothesis

   • Methodology

   • Expected findings and implications

4. Articles on research methods should focus on any one (or few) aspects of high quality research and provide in-depth and practical insights

5. Contributors can also forward links or details of significant research articles published in refereed journals to be included in the Research Mesh section.

6. Submissions can be in either English or Dhivehi

Review Process

All submissions received will go through an internal review process before publication. Authors will be required to resubmit their papers with any necessary reviews, as instructed by the review board.
