MULTICULTURAL NIGHT 2024 BY CENTRE FOR FOUNDATION STUDIES

The Multicultural Night of 2024 was held on 04th May 2024 in the Villa College Main Hall. This event is also an assessment component for the first semester Foundation students. The Minister of Dhivehi Language, Adam Naseer Ibrahim attended the event as a chief guest.


Students represented a total of 11 different countries at the event. The countries represented were Holland, Egypt, Japan, Greece, Mexico, South Africa, India, Italy, China, France and Morocco. The decorations, information and cuisines from their representing countries on display portrayed the extensive research and effort the students had put into their work. During the event, students also presented a cultural performance which showcased the uniqueness and beauty of a country’s culture. The cultural performance was showcased in various ways by different groups, with some choosing to showcase a dance, while others opted for theatre style storytelling and cultural fashion showcasing.


Afterwards, certificates and medals were presented to the winners of the best stall and the best performance. China was selected as the 3rd Best Stall, Greece as the 2nd and South Africa as the Best Stall of the night. Meanwhile, Greece was selected as the 3rd Best Performance, South Africa as 2nd and Morocco as the Best Performance of the night. All in all, it was an amazing night full of talented students and their hard work.
The event helped promote the cultures of various countries and helped students gain essential skills such as teamwork, event planning and public speaking skills. It was also a very fun and engaging event. The students greatly enjoyed the event and are excited to attend the next Multicultural night to see what the next batch of students come up with.
