CFS Multicultural Night celebrates student talent and cultural diversity
1 min read

On Thursday, 23rd April, Villa College's Centre for Foundation Studies held its Multicultural Night, an evening organised and presented by 149 students of the English Proficiency 1 programme. The event brought together stalls and performances representing India, Greece, Palestine, Egypt, Mexico, Italy, Japan, and China, offering attendees a wide-ranging look at the traditions and identities that shape each of these cultures.

The night was designed to do more than showcase heritage. By placing students at the centre of every element, from research and preparation to presentation and performance, it gave them an opportunity to grow in confidence, teamwork, communication, and cultural awareness. These are capabilities that carry weight in any professional setting, and they sit at the heart of how the Centre for Foundation Studies prepares students for higher education and the workplace beyond it.

In keeping with Villa College's wider commitment to student well-being, Ms. Aishath Yooliya Haleem, Vice-Chairperson of the Mental Health Awareness Foundation, joined the evening as Chief Guest. Her presence reinforced the institution's view that academic development and personal well-being are not separate concerns, but two sides of the same educational experience.

The evening also recognised standout contributions from the participating teams. Palestine took first place for Best Stall, followed by Mexico and Italy in second and third. India claimed the top prize for Best Performance, with Italy and Mexico close behind. Each result reflected weeks of preparation, creative thinking, and collaboration, and underlined the value of learning that extends beyond the classroom into the wider world.
