Villa College Diploma in Teaching Primary and SEN Students Begin Sri Lanka Outbound Mobility Programme with Inclusive Education Training in Colombo

Students enrolled in the Diploma in Teaching Primary and Special Educational Needs at Villa College have embarked on an outbound mobility journey of experiential learning to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The programme is designed to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom by taking students to various educational and training institutions. Through these visits, participants gain first-hand exposure to international teaching approaches, helping them broaden their perspectives on inclusive education and academic practice.

On the first day of the mobility trip, the team visited BIBM in Colombo to attend a professional development session focused on inclusive education strategies for diverse learners. The interactive session was facilitated by Ms. Rajeeka Jenorge, a psychologist and remedial therapist. During the training, participants explored evidence-based methods and practical interventions designed to support students with varying learning abilities in inclusive school environments.

By engaging directly with an experienced therapist and practitioner, the students gained valuable insights into practical remedial strategies. This initial experience allowed participants to connect their coursework with real-world application, establishing a strong foundation for the remainder of their experiential learning journey in Sri Lanka.
