Villa College students join the People's Majlis Secretariat's first internship cohort
1 min read

Villa College has marked a notable step in experiential education with the placement of its students in the inaugural internship programme of the People's Majlis Secretariat. Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions, the arrangement reflects a deliberate effort to connect academic study with the practical realities of national governance.

The programme's value lies in the access it provides. Over the course of one month, interns observe the legislative process directly and develop an understanding of how the Secretariat supports the work of the People's Majlis. For students of law in particular, this exposure converts abstract constitutional principles into lived professional experience, an outcome that classroom instruction alone cannot replicate.

The partnership also signals something broader about the institution's approach to learning. By securing placements within a core national institution, Villa College shows that meaningful civic and professional engagement can be built into a student's academic journey rather than left to chance after graduation. We are proud to see Khadheeja Shaffa Mohamed (LLB), Aminath Saha (LLB), Maryam Shifa (BSL), Aminath Firusa (BSL), and Hassan Azzam Ali (LLB) represent the College in this first cohort, and we regard their participation as an early indication of the contribution our graduates are prepared to make to public life.
