Centre for Foundation Studies celebrates global diversity with Multicultural Night 2025
2 min read

The Centre for Foundation Studies at Villa College recently hosted an extraordinary Multicultural Night, bringing together 224 students in a vibrant celebration of global cultures. Presented with remarkable enthusiasm by students from the English Proficiency 1 module of the September 2025 intake, the event transformed our campus into a dynamic showcase of international traditions and cultural heritage.

The evening featured stunning representations from nine countries spanning three continents, including China, Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, Greece, Japan, Turkey, Italy, and Palestine. Each participating team demonstrated exceptional dedication in researching and presenting the unique customs, artistic traditions, and cultural narratives of their chosen nations. What began as a classroom assignment evolved into an immersive cultural experience that enriched the entire Villa College community.

We were honoured to welcome Mr. Saeed Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Practice from our Faculty of Educational Studies, as Chief Guest for this celebration of global unity. His presence underscored the importance our institution places on cultural competence and international understanding as fundamental components of modern education. The event represented a meaningful exercise in cross-cultural communication and collaborative learning that allowed students to develop both personally and academically.

The spirited competition saw students channelling their creativity into both stall presentations and stage performances. Team Mexico emerged victorious in the Best Stall category, impressing judges with their authentic and engaging representation of Mexican culture and traditions. Italy and Egypt followed closely, securing second and third positions respectively with their equally impressive displays that captured the essence of their cultural heritage through carefully curated exhibits and interactive elements.

The performance segment of the evening showcased the remarkable artistic talents within our student body. Egypt delivered a captivating first-place performance that demonstrated both technical skill and cultural authenticity, earning them the top prize in this category. Palestine and Mexico rounded out the podium with equally compelling acts that highlighted the diverse artistic expressions found across different cultures. Each performance served as a window into the rich cultural narratives that shape our global community.

This celebration exemplified the collaborative spirit and cultural appreciation that define the Villa College experience. By creating spaces where students can share their heritage with pride whilst learning about the traditions of others, we foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding. The Multicultural Night proved that education extends far beyond textbooks and lectures; it thrives in moments of genuine cultural exchange. Events like these set a wonderful precedent for future student initiatives and reinforce our commitment to nurturing globally minded graduates who appreciate diversity as a strength rather than a challenge.
