Villa College and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2nd December 2025 aimed at fostering a collaborative environment that benefits both the academic and industrial sectors in the Maldives. This agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for enhancing student experience and workforce development through initiatives such as academic internships particularly for final year students and access to active project sites for research purposes. The collaboration extends to skill development where both parties will jointly create training programmes aligned with evolving industry requirements that place specific emphasis on leadership and learning methods preferred by Gen Z learners while seeking to bridge generational differences in the workplace.
Beyond student development, this MoU facilitates significant opportunities for faculty and staff engagement through collaborative research and knowledge exchange activities. We have agreed to identify relevant areas for joint research projects annually and to share essential technical documentation and operational data within confidentiality limits to support these academic endeavours. The agreement also allows for reciprocal resource sharing where MTCC may utilise Villa College facilities such as lecture halls and computer labs while our students gain mentorship from industry experts. This initiative was officially sealed by our Vice Rector Dr Ali Najeeb and MTCC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed to mark the beginning of a promising journey towards sectoral innovation and professional growth.
